A Macomb County Corvette owner thought his paint protection film was fine until Vinyl Mafia showed him what a proper install actually looks like.

There's something fitting about a Michigan shop rescuing a Corvette, after all, the very first production Corvette rolled off the assembly line in Flint back in 1953. More than seventy years later, a local C7 owner brought his own white Corvette to Fraser-based Vinyl Mafia, and the story of how it got there has become a favorite around the garage.
The customer had already had paint protection film applied to his car at another shop. It technically protected the paint, but the edges were left unwrapped and uneven with the panels, a dead giveaway of a rushed job, and painfully obvious on a white car. He'd assumed that was simply how PPF looked, until a conversation with Vinyl Mafia set him straight.
"He genuinely didn't know what a proper install was supposed to look like, and that's not his fault, nobody had ever educated him," said Dean Martin, owner of Vinyl Mafia. "Once we showed him wrapped edges, film tucked behind the fenders, and clean lines on the hood, it clicked. Good protection film should basically disappear. That's the entire point."
When the customer stopped by mid-job, he assumed nothing had been done yet, until Dean popped the hood to reveal PPF cleanly tucked at the fender edges and wrapped around the hood and trim. Impressed, he added the doors to the project on the spot, and is already planning to bring in a freshly repainted 2017 BMW 750i to protect it the right way from day one.
